so, i know that yesterday was our actual american holiday of giving thanks. but i had class...until 7:30 pm so i didnt celebrate. instead, i celebrated today!
we all went to christina's apartment around 11 (jill, lindsey and myself) and met up with christina and her family who are in town visiting. we went to the market which was an experience. ive gone to the grocery store here before but have never seen it so crowded which was quite confusing since thanksgiving is an american holiday and was technically yesterday...
anyways, after fighting our way through we headed back to the apartment and started cooking. i am proud to say i did some chopping and then spent almost 2 hours whipping cream. yep. 2 hours because they dont have official whipping cream here. it was worth it though, very good if i may say so myself.
we ended up eating around 3-3:30 which was perfect because our spanish friend, marc, came around that time to join us. we had a real american thanksgiving which was very nice. we had mashed potatoes, sweet potato casserole, corn, gravy, salad, cranberry sauce, green bean casserole, baked bread, stuffing, and the only thing we did not have was a turkey. we had chicken instead which was delicious. and for dessert we made apple crisp.
so now, after shopping, cooking and cleaning i am back home and ready for my thanksgiving nap. happy turkey day everyone!!
